Adapting to climate

Climatic change and its variability are emerging the major challenges influencing the performances of Indian agriculture. Long-term changes in shifting weather pattrens result in changing climate. Which threaten agricultural productivity. Climatic change might result in price hike of agricultural commodities, feed supplies and consequently livestock products. Each year one or the other part in the country is affected by droughts, floods. hailstrom etc.
Climatic Resilient agriculture means the incorporation of adaptation, mitigation and other practices in agriculture with increase in the capacity of the system to respond to various climate related disturbances. CRA will essentially involve judicious and improved management of natural resources by land, water, soil and genetic resources through the adoption of best practices.
The major effect on crop is due to shortening of crop duration which is related to the thermal enviroment. The shortening of crop duration may vary from 2-3 weeks, thus adversely impacting productivity such as rice, wheat, sunflower etc. is on reproduction, pollination and fertilization process. Which are highly sensitive to temprature. Thus we should priotrize adaptaion option in key sectors such as stress tolerant crops, storm warming system, water storage and diversion, contingenecy planning and infrastructure strengthening. We should standadrdise methodologies for vulnerabillity assesment and climate smart agriculture. Goverment should institulionalize a mechanism to collect micro-level information and establish credible database as well as efficiency disseminate it which can be used as an input for macro-level politioes. We should priotrize regions vulnerable to climatic change with a particular focus on semi-arid and arid regions.
Climatic resilient agriculture present a promising pathway to address the challenges possesd by climatic changes and ensure sustinable food production. This method helps farmers to adapt to changing climatic circumstances, maxamize resources use and improve agricultural resiliance by integrating cutting and novel practices.
Overall climatic resilient agriculture has the potential to transform the agriculture sector, ensuring its long-term viability and contribution to food security, economic stability and enviormental sustinability. By embaracing this approach. Farmers can overcome the challenges
