Functional foods are those that provide additional health benefits beyond basic nutrition these foods can help improve overall health by supporting heart health, digestion, and even immunity. common example include probiotic yogurt which help maintain a healthy gut, and omega 3 rich fishlike salmon, known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
one of the key benefits of functional food is their role in preventing chronic disease. many of these are linked to lowering the risk of condition like heart disease, diabetes, and even certain cancers. for instance, foods high in fiber, such as whole grains, help maintain a healthy heart, while omega-3s found in fish can reduce inflammation and improve heart function.
