Working on potential plants for sustainable exploitation based on management and conservation of the resources. On these theme, main concern given to Melastomataceae, Liliaceae and Orchidaceae which has a high diversity in this region. Study on Exploration and Characterization of genus Chenopodium. Working on endemic species (Lilium mackliniae) Shiroi Lily of Manipur is also being taken up by incorporating bio technological techniques to comprehend better and encourage conservation programs for sustainable development.

Current Focus Areas

  • Survey, collection, documentation and evaluation of plant resources of Northeast India focuses on collection, characterization, evaluation and conservation of medicinal, aromatic and horticultural plant resources of the Indo Burma biodiversity hotspot, India for sustainable utilization of potential and important bioresources for bioeconomy development.
