Profile

Dr. Girdhari Lal is a Senior Scientist working at the National Center for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune. Dr. Lal received Ph.D. in Immunology from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He was an Assistant Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York City, USA, before returning to India in the year 2010. Dr. Lal’s Laboratory is interested in understanding the cellular and molecular mechanism of immune tolerance. His laboratory is investigating the chemokine receptor signaling and neuroimmune communication in inflammation and autoimmunity. Dr. Lal Has received several National and International awards such as Ramalingaswami Fellowship and Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award from the Department of Biotechnology, and the Swarna Jayanti Fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. He is a founding member of Executing Council member of the Society of Inflammation Research and also Immuno-Oncology Society of India.

Current Focus Areas

  • We are investigating how neuroimmune communication affect the phenotype and function of immune cells in non-communicable diseases.
