Profile

Metabolic heterogeneity: Primary research is focused on studying cellular metabolism and metabolic heterogeneity implicated in cancer and diabetes. Metabolism is the overall process through which living systems acquire and utilize free energy for their survival. In the recent past, cellular metabolism has emerged as an integral process implicated in generating key signaling molecules associated with various cellular responses and processes including immune response, cell growth, apoptosis, and redox homeostasis. We use mass-spectrometry based proteomics and metabolomics tools and other relevant biochemical methods to understand metabolic heterogeneity.

Current Focus Areas

  • Cancer cells tend to have heterogeneous metabolic preferences and dependencies which influences therapeutic vulnerabilities and clinical outcomes. Metabolic heterogeneity exists between tumors and even within distinct regions of solid tumors. Our lab is interested in understanding the principles of metabolic regulation and metabolic reprograming, that aid in therapeutics.
