Profile

Dr. Kuldeep Verma earned his PhD in Biotechnology (2012) from the Indian Institute of Soybean Research, Indore (with Kurukshetra University). After a brief stint at Bejo Seed Ltd. (joint venture Bejo Zaden B. V. Netherlands) Jalna, as a Scientist, he was awarded Postdoctoral Research Associateship from the Department of Biotechnology in 2013. He completed his postdoctoral training at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal, where he developed interest in membrane transport machinery in pathogenic amoeba. He continued his research in membrane trafficking and host-virus interaction as a Young Investigator awardee (2017) at the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB-UNESCO), Faridabad. Kuldeep joined the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad in 2021. His current research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms for tissue destruction mediated by single-celled human pathogens Entamoeba histolytica and Naegleria fowleri.

Current Focus Areas

  • Understanding the mechanism of trogocytosis in amoebas

  • Investigating the mechanism of cyclic activity of non-canonical Rab proteins
