Profile

My group is interested in understanding the role of clathrin mediated endocytosis in the context of development and disease. We have observed that for the maintenance of stem cell pluripotency, clathrin mediated endocytosis is required. Further, we observe that neurodegenerative disorders such as Huntington's disorder display stalled clathrin mediated endocytosis. Further mutations in the clathrin heavy chain result in neurodevelopmental disorders such as CLTC disorder. We use a combination of cellular and organismal models to address the role and function of clathrin in normal development and in disease.
