Profile

With broad background in cancer biology, Dr. Sandeep Singh has specific training and expertise in stem-cell biology of cancer, tumor microenvironment and cellular signaling. His research interest includes mechanistic understanding of nongenetic/ epigenetic heterogeneity associated with aggressive tumor behaviour. Dr. Singh's group has developed expertise to define the mechanism of heterogeneity among stem-like cancer cells and its functional interaction in tumor microenvironment. In collaboration with clinicians and other researchers Dr. Singh is contributing to the fundamental understanding of cancer stemness, cellular plasticity and anticancer therapeutics against oral cancer with multidisciplinary approaches.

Current Focus Areas

  • Aggressive cancer behaviour, drug tolerance and overall poor prognosis has been correlated with intratumoral-heterogeneity; however responsible cellular and molecular determinants have garnered attention, recently. Dr. Singh is focused to comprehend the intrinsic or tumor microenvironment driven cellular plasticity as mechanisms behind intratumoral heterogeneity in oral cancer.
