Profile

Dr. Jomon Joseph has completed his Master's degree in Agriculture with a specialization in Crop Physiology from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. He received his PhD in Biochemistry from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and did post-doctoral research at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA. He started his independent research career at the National Centre for Cell Science, Pune in 2005. Recognized as a cell biologist, his lab studies specific cellular structures and their functions, and how they are misregulated in diseases. His pioneering work in the field of Annulate Lamellae biology has provided new insights into the functioning of this relatively unknown organelle. He is an elected member of the Guha Research Conference, India and a member of the Molecular Immunology Forum, India, Indian Society for Cell Biology, Society of Biological Chemists, India and Indian Society for Developmental Biologists. He has been awarded many International Travel Fellowships and was a John E. Fogarty International Visiting Fellow.
