Debasis Dash is interested in developing algorithms and tools in the area of computational biology. His specific interests are developing novel approaches to to study intrinsically disordered proteins, Proteome Informatics using Mass-spectrometry, Analyse exomes, metagenomes to understand how variations at molecular level contribute to systemic level through ayurgenomics, phenome india - a long-term longitudinal observational cohort study of health outcomes, building deep learning based models for identification of pathological condition type and subtype classification, segmentation and risk score triage, NLP based models for collaborative network recommendation system, His group has developed several tools and algorithms such as GenoCluster - for protein coding gene identification, PLHost - for Protein function assignment, machine learning tool "Pro-Gyan" for protein classification, "MassWiz", "EuGenosuite" and "PgxSAVy" for proteomics etc.
