Profile

Dr Jagadis Gupta Kapuganti’s main research interests are nitric oxide signalling, understanding nitrogen use efficiency to meet the food security agenda, identification of novel roles of nitric oxide in plant adaptive response to flooding stress, improving germination of crops such as rice, chickpea, improving nitrosative stress tolerance, improving postharvest loss of fruits and vegetables. He obtained his PhD from University of Wuerzburg, Germany, later he worked as postdoc at Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology, Golm, Germany, on molecular basis of regulation of respiration. Subsequently he worked as postdoc at University of Rostock on serinehydroxymethyltransferases. Later he worked on role of nitric oxide in low oxygen stress response in plants at Department of Plant Sciences, University of Oxford. He founded startup Fruvetech Pvt Ltd. He won National Startup Award 2022. UK India achiever Honours at UK Parliament. He received fellowships such as Marie Curie Fellowship, Ramalingaswami fellowship, IYBA, and Biotechnology Ignition Grant, NASI Reliance Award. He is Editorial review board member of Journal of Experimental Botany, and an Editor in Planta. He is Advisor to New Phytologist. He developed International collaborations with UK, Germany, Portugal, Canada, Switzerland, France, etc. He is fellow of FNASc and FNAAS
