Profile

Dr. Koushik Mazumder, Scientist-E from NABI is working in the field of structural and synthetic carbohydrate chemistry with respect to their structural, functional and biological significances. He has expertise in extraction of several polysaccharides (e.g. hemicellulosic polysaccharides) from cereals and secondary agricultural by products such as wheat straw, structural characterization using several analytical techniques (e.g. GC-MS, HPLC, mass spectrometry and NMR). He has further modified polysaccharides to improve their functional properties such moisture barrier, mechanical, optical and thermal properties for their application in postharvest shelf life improvement of fruits and vegetables. He has worked extensively in the area of carbohydrate chemistry and post-harvest technology for the quality improvement of perishable fruit crops.
