Profile

Our group is working on the improvement of starch-based nutritional and processing quality in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in the area of agricultural biotechnology using non-transgenic mutation method. We developed low glycemic wheat lines for obese and diabetics. Using the mutant lines, genome-wide genes, responsible for starch modifications, are being identified using genomics and functional genomics tools. In addition, we are developing genetic resources, such as whole genome sequences and gene-based markers, and mapping populations and mutant lines in wheat. The information will be useful for breeders, progressive farmers, and molecular biologists. Our research is focus towards the society development with better health and farmers with better genetic resources.
