Profile

Dr. Tailor got his PhD degree from Cancer Research Institute (now ACTREC, Navi Mumbai) in the area of Virology/Oncology. He got his post-doctoral training under Dr. keiko Ozato (NICHD/NIH, USA) in the area of Dendritic cell (DC) biology and established Laboratory of Innate immunity at NII, New Delhi after returning to India. Dr. Tailor has received Ramalingaswami Fellowship from DBT, Govt. of India and also recipient of mid-career scientist award from Indian Immunology Society in year 2019. His laboratory focuses on understanding the role of Interferon Regulatory Factors in dendritic cell development and understanding the role of DCs in various infectious and autoimmune as well life style disorders.

Current Focus Areas

  • Dendritic cells (DC) are collection of populations broadly categorized into plasmacytoid DCs and classical DCs represented by cDC1(CD8+/CD103+CD11b−SIRP−) and cDC2(CD4+/CD103−CD11b+SIRP+). Laboratory is focused towards understanding mechanisms of IRF directed DC development and cross talk of IRFs, transcription factors and signaling pathways. Autoimmune disorders, microbial infection, cancer biology are other areas.
