Profile

Dr Manna's research work focusses on the understanding the molecular mechanism of Profilin for its tumor suppressive activity and thus, induction of it by therapeutic molecules has huge potential to regulate tumor especially in combination chemotherapy. His lab is also interested to understand the molecular mechanism(s) of several deleterious effects (like obesity, diabetes, neurodegeneration, ageing, etc.) mediated by advanced glycation endproducts (AGE) and its regulation ex vivo and in vivo. Beside these, some of the ideas focusses on the regulation bone degeneration and arthritic responses and its regulation.

Current Focus Areas

  • To establish the molecular mechanism of Profilin as a tumor suppressor and tested its efficacy in combination chemotherapy to suppress tumor in vivo. Understanding the Advanced glycation endproducts (AGE) mediated deleterious effects, like diabetes, obesity, neurodegeneration, ageing, etc. by herbal and synthetic derivatives and tested its efficacy for potential therapeutics.
