Profile

My academic journey began at the National Institute of Technology-Calicut where I obtained a degree in B. Tech. Biotechnology. I moved to the USA, to pursue my PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with Dr. Chad Vezina in the Department of Comparative Biosciences. I completed my postdoctoral training with Dr. Douglas Strand at the Department of Urology, UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Since 2022, I am a member of faculty at the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (BRIC-inStem) in Bengaluru.

  • Development of the genitourinary tract and associated congenital anomalies

  • Development of the immune niche and establishment of the microbiota in the genitourinary tract

  • Urinary tract infections and the role of the urethral epithelium as a defensive barrier
