My academic journey began at the National Institute of Technology-Calicut where I obtained a degree in B. Tech. Biotechnology. I moved to the USA, to pursue my PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with Dr. Chad Vezina in the Department of Comparative Biosciences. I completed my postdoctoral training with Dr. Douglas Strand at the Department of Urology, UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Since 2022, I am a member of faculty at the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (BRIC-inStem) in Bengaluru.

Development of the genitourinary tract and associated congenital anomalies
Development of the immune niche and establishment of the microbiota in the genitourinary tract
Urinary tract infections and the role of the urethral epithelium as a defensive barrier
