BioE3 policy is one of the milestone science policy to be approved by the Government that envisions leveraging biotechnology to promote green growth and a sustainable future. Precision Biotherapeutics aims to provide personalized approach to healthcare that is fundamentally different from conventional methods.
It is based on studying individual genetic makeup to find cause and cure of the disease and not based on production of therapeutics that are applied on all like conventional methods. Conventional or traditional method of providing therapy was like one-size-fits-all whereas precision biotherapeutics allows providing personalized therapy depending on their genetic map via gene editing methods. This increases effectiveness of the therapy. Conventional treatments such as drugs and surgery often have limitations. They may not be effective for everyone and can also may have side effects as these target broad group of patients, rather than addressing the specific underlying causes of diseases.
